This is our story

Congratulations and welcome to A Good Space! We are so excited to have you on board as a Good Starter!

In this page, we’ll share the steps you can take to begin co-hosting your first event with us.

As we are a small team of just 2 (at this point of writing), we’d greatly appreciate your help in following these steps to ensure a smooth experience as you prepare for your event.

Before The Event

Have an event idea in mind?

Here are a few simple steps you can take to set up your event with us at A Good Space.

Step 1: Set a date for your event

The first step is to check if our spaces are available for booking at the date / time of your choice at the calendar above.

Step 2: Choose from one of the spaces available

Next, select the space you wish to use. Currently, most events at A Good Space are hosted at the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre, with the following capacities:

  • Giving Place @ Level 4 (25 pax)
  • Community Builders Room (20 pax)
  • MPH 1 or MPH 2 (50 – 70 pax each)
  • MPH 1 and MPH 2 (100 – 200 pax)

Step 3: Tell us more about your event

Help us understand how your event is aligned with A Good Space’s curatorial intent. In particular, here are some details which will be useful for us:

  • What is the name of your event?
  • What social issue (s) does it address?
  • How does it expand perspectives towards a social issue (s)?
  • Why is it innovative?
  • Who is the target audience?

Step 4: Action Required

Click the link on the right. It’ll direct you to a form where you can share the information in steps 1 – 3 with us. We will get back to you once we have read through your submission.

Step 5: Create an event page and pre-event survey on Peatix

Your event is now tentatively confirmed! The next step is to create an event page on Peatix.

This allows you to build your community on Peatix and helps us to spread the word for your event to reach more people in the A Good Space community.

Also, you’ll need to program a pre-event survey with the following questions:

  1. What is your name?
  2. What is your email address?
  3. I consent to be added to A Good Space’s mailing list to receive updates on upcoming events, talks, films, social experiments and activities at A Good Space.
  4. What are your current views towards [insert social issue here e.g. climate change]? Share with us in a few sentences.
  5. What change do you wish to see in the area of [insert social issue here]
  6. On a scale of 1 to 5, how much do you want to see this change?
  7. Are there any other views you’d like to express on this issue?

Feel free to add your own questions too! We just need responses to the above questions.

Step 6: Create an event on Facebook and add us as a co-host

Next, create an event page on Facebook and add A Good Space as a co-host. This’ll help your event to automatically appear in A Good Space’s Facebook Event Calendar to reach more people.

Note: You have to create this event page using a Facebook page, not a personal profile. Otherwise, you would not be able to add A Good Space as a co-host.

Step 7: Create a post-event survey

The final step is to create a post-event survey with the following questions:

  • What is one new thing you’ve learnt about [insert social issue here]
  • What is one action step you can take immediately in the next 3 days?
  • On a scale of 1 to 5, how motivated are you in taking this action step?
  • What is one area this event can improve on?
  • On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely are you to attend another event at A Good Space in the future?
  • On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely would you recommend this event to a friend or colleague?

This helps us to get feedback on the event and also to track an expansion of perspectives in the participants.

Feel free to add your own questions too! We just need responses to the above questions.

Step 8: Action Required

Click the link on the right. It’ll take you to a pre-event checklist, which will ask you for the links to your Peatix and Facebook events. Once you have completed this checklist, your event is confirmed.

During The Event

Your event is now good to go! Here are the things you’ll need to do during your event:

Step 9: Introduce A Good Space

Please introduce A Good Space to your attendees using the following blurb:

This event is co-hosted with A Good Space, which is providing the venue for free.

A Good Space is where changemakers flourish as a community to imagine and create experiences that expand perspectives across diverse social issues.

If you want to know about A Good Space, like their Facebook Page to be the first to be notified of innovative activities designed to help you learn about a wide range of social issues.

Step 10: Remind participants to complete the post-event survey

At the end of your event, remind your participants to take out their mobile phones to do the post-event survey on the spot.

Typically, it’s quite difficult to get them to complete the survey after the event so we highly encourage you to get them to do it before they leave.

It might be helpful to flash the post-event survey on a slide, with the link clearly represented.

Step 11: Collect 3 attendee stories

You’ll also need to take 3 short videos (~45 seconds) of your attendees sharing their experience at your event, covering the following questions:

  • What is your name?
  • What is something new you’ve learnt at today’s event?
  • What is one area where the event can be improved?

This could be shot using a mobile phone or camera. For an example of an attendee story, please watch the video above.

After The Event

Congratulations on a successful run of your event! Now that the event is over, there is just one final step to do:

Step 14: Send us the information we need

To wrap up your event, please email the following to Vincent at vincentng@nvpc.org.sg no later than 3 days after your event:

  • Pre and post survey results
  • List of payments collected (if any)
  • List of emails collected
  • 3 x attendee stories
